Video taken at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge shortly after the leading edge of Hurricane Irma arrived (Sept 10, 2017, taken at 6:30PM).
Peoplemover view of an empty park
This video, taken from the Peoplemover, shows just how empty the park was.
Utility vehicles at Epcot
Still lots of electrical utility vehicles staged at Epcot.
Magic Kingdom midday crowds
The first day back open after Irma passed through, and the parks are still quite empty. Most stuff was open, although there were a few exceptions.
Peter Pan crowd meter
Back in the parks, and it was pretty quiet again. We only waited 8 minutes to ride the Peter Pan ride!
Cleaning the pool II
Cleaning the pool
As you can see here, there were several large branches that had found their way to the pool.
That'll buff out
This is the base of the tree observed earlier. Note the underground pipe visible in the roots. It was sheared off.
Surveying the damage panorama
Surveying the damage
Lots of branches and trees down in this view.
This tree was near the pool. Unsurprisingly, those rooms were evacuated.
Trees were down on the savanna as well.
Found in front of the hotel.
There was bamboo down all over the place.
Getting back to normal
We received this announcement late afternoon, and were happy to see it.
All parks closed
It's not often you see all 4 parks closed in the middle of the day.
Savanna view panorama
With that tree out of the way, we now have a savanna view room.
